Barcelona's struggles for a Neymar replacement hit a new high on Thursday after Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund released a statement, confirming that Dembele is not for sale while also revealing a pending sanction on the player.
Rumours were rife of a pending move as the Frenchman missed training this on Thursday morning and L'Equipe said the signing was imminent but the German club feel the transfer fee being offered by Barca, that has not been revealed, is not sufficient and the deal is "highly unlikely."
Along with this the player will be fined for "poor conduct" according to Dortmund.
"Dembele missed the Borussia Dortmund training session for unjustified reasons and he was aware of this. This bad behaviour will be sanctioned." said Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.
The French international will be suspended until next Monday and will not be able to train or take part in games until then which means that he will miss the German cup clash against Rielasingen.
