Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have once again opened the door to Usain Bolt to fulfill his dream to become a professional football with the club.

The legendary Jamaican sprint star retired from athletics in August after World Championships, with a career that saw him with both 100m and 200m Olympic gold medal in three separate tournaments and with eight Olympic medals.

The 31-year-old has since expressed his desire to become a footballer, leading to an offer from the Bundesliga leaders in November to join the club for some training.

And now CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has spoken again to invite him to Germany, when speaking to Reviersport he said: "Our word is our bond.

"I will meet [Puma CEO] Bjorn Gulden this week. And that's on our list."

Both Dortmund and Bolt are sponsored by Puma., as he was in Texas last weekend to watch Lewis Hamilton claim victory in the F1 US Grand Prix.

And he told reporters he still keen on swapping his athletes for football.

Bolt said: "They [Dortmund] said the invitation is always open, so it is all about me getting over my injury and into shape.

"Then I can explore it and do the trials and see what level I am at."

The Manchester United fan added: "It's a personal goal, I don't care what people really think about it.

"I am not going to lie to myself - if I feel I can't do it, I am going to say, 'Forget this.' I am not going to embarrass myself."

Bolt is currently still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
