Eagles star Mikel pays tribute to ex-Chelsea captain Terry

Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel has paid tribute to his former Chelsea teammate and captain John Terry who announced his retirement from football on Sunday after a successful 23-year playing career.

The 31-year-old Nigeria international controversial signed for dethroned Premier League Champions after initially joined Manchester United but the midfielder went on to spend 11 years at Stamford Bridge alongside ex-England center-back winning Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FA Community Shield together.

Mikel who now plays in the Chinese Super League (CSL) took to social media to thank Terry for everything he taught him during their time together at Chelsea.

He also took to his official Twitter account to post another message with a different picture of them together.

Terry was on the books of Chelsea for twenty-two years, making 717 appearances and scoring 67 goals which make him the highest scoring defender in the club's history.

The central defender made 6 appearances during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2000, played 36 games for his last club Aston Villa and won 78 England caps.
