Enyeama fails to make Lille's matchday squad for Sunday

Despite returning from injury and being recalled to the first team squad, French Ligue 1 club Lille have not included Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama on their 18-man matchday squad for today’s home game against Olympique Marseille.

Enyeama, 35, whose return to international football with Nigeria remains a subject of rife speculations,  has returned to full training after a long-term knee injury that needed surgery.

However, coach Marcelo Bielsa has stuck to goalkeepers Kouakou Herve Koffi and Mike Maignan, who have struggled to impress in Enyeama’s absence.

Maignan was Enyeama’s understudy last season before the arrival of Bielsa, who has since declared the Nigeria shot stopper surplus to requirement.

Lille have conceded 14 goals in nine matches this season.

They are second from bottom of the table with a mere six points from nine matches.
