Seven-time Nigeria League champions, Enyimba have reacted to media reports suggesting that they are planning a sensational swoop for Ghana’s WAFU Cup-winning coach Maxwell Konadu.
The Peoples' Elephant under the tutelage of Coach Gbenga Ogunbote finished third on the log in the recently concluded NPFL 2016/17 season and they would be competing in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Having achieved that much in his maiden season, Enyimba through their sports director Jude Anyadufu said they have absolute trust in Ogunbote and also distanced themselves from the Konadu talks.
“No! No!! There is nothing like that,” Anyadufu told SCORENigeria
“We have no plans to hire Konadu, expect he wants to come and be an assistant to our coach Gbenga Ogunbote because in Ogunbote we trust.” He added.
At the moment, Yaw Preko who is in charge at FC Ifeanyi Ubah is the only Ghanian coach handling a team in Nigeria's top flight.
