Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has recovered in time to make the cut to face Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Brazilian made the squad list after he recovered from a broken leg to make squad list.

Luis fractured his tibia on March 15 and was initially ruled out of the season and he was told he is highly unlikely to play again this season and may not even make the World Cup in Russia.

Luis has now received a medical discharge and was monitored on Tuesday by Brazil assistant coach Sylvinho.

Even though he is expected to be on the bench, this represents a big bonus for Atletico as full-backs Juanfran and Sime Vrsaljko are out of Thursday's semi-final second leg, due to injury and suspension respectively.

Atletico held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in the Emirate last week despite a one man down for almost the entire 90 minutes.
