Europa League: Gent win over Spurs excites Eagles star Esiti

Super Eagles forward Anderson Esiti has expressed delight over his side's narrow win over Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur during Thursday's UEFA Europa League round of 32 first leg tie at home.

The Nigerian international alongside his compatriots Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu were all on parade as KAA Gent secured a 1-0 win over a star studded Spurs side who will now hope to turn the tie around in the return leg at Wembley on Thursday 23, February 2017.

The combative midfielder who played the enire duration of the encounter in a post match reaction on the club's website said: "I especially like the way the team played. I just did my job. I just gave everything, I was just not dead at the end of the match."

Tottenham's Europa League hopes may have been dealt a blow after Jeremy Perbet's goal gave Gent a surprise victory in their last-32 first-leg meeting.

French striker Perbet controlled and slotted into the corner from Danijel Milicevic's pull-back on the hour.

Before next Thursday's second leg at Wembley, the Nigerian tiro will travel to fellow mid-table side Standard Liege in the Belgian league.
