Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has taken sides between Atletico Madrid and Marseille in the Europa League final in Lyon, according to report in Marca.

The City of Madrid will support Atletico Madrid against Marseille in the final but Zidane has chosen to be on the other side as he pledges his support to Ligue 1 outfit Marseille.

The Frenchman grew up as a supporter of the Ligue 1 based club and he hopes they can win against Atletico Madrid when they clash for the finals in Lyon.

"I hope they can do something good in this final because I am and always have been a supporter," he explained in an interview with UEFA.

"When I was young I was in the stands experiencing Marseille.

"For that reason, I wish them the best for the final."

He also spoke of just how important the final is for the city he used to call home.

"It's incredible for [the city of] Marseille, it's incredible for the club and of course it's incredible for the players," Zidane said.

"Above all, it's incredible for the city.

"It's a footballing city that needs these kinds of emotions.

"Given what they'd done in the past, they are a great club and they're playing a major final."

The match will take place in France on Wednesday evening before Zidane takes his team to Kiev to face Liverpool in the Champions League final.
