Everton 0-0 Liverpool: Merseyside derby ends in stalemate

Everton played a goalless draw against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at the Goodison Park on Sunday as The Reds surrendered the top of the Premier League table to Manchester City with a point difference.

Everton pushed forward in a bid to take the game to Liverpool but the away team sock the pressure from Everton. Mohamed Salah made an attempt but Jordan Pickford.

Mane blasted an opportunity to give Liverpool a goal but his effort was directed to the hands of Pickford.

Salah was denied another chance to put Liverpool ahead as Pickford rose to the occasion to deny the Egyptian forward.

The first half ended in a stalemate as both teams find to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half started with Liverpool pushing for a goal but Everton solid play in the defence ensure The Reds did not get on the score sheet.

Theo Walcourt was replaced by Richarlison in the 59th minute in a bid, Georginio Wijnaldum was also replaced by Milner and Firmino was brought in to replace Divock Origi.

Liverpool squandered numerous chances to get as Everton defence remained solid to put off any attempt from Liverpool attack.

Liverpool maintained high pressing game to break the deadlock but Everton was alert to sense every possible danger posed by the away team.

With the result, Liverpool is down to second on the Premier League table, Manchester City now tops the log with nine games to go.
