Former Aston Villa striker and Nigerian descent Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Mikel Arteta to signed Wilfred Ndidi for Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old Leicester City midfielder has been consistent since coming to Premier League in January 2017 for a £17 million deal from Belgian Pro League giant Genk.

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their side in the January transfer window but Agbonlahor thinks Ndidi will be a perfect fit at Emirates Stadium to replace Lucas Torreira or Granit Xhaka.

Ex-Premier League who scored 75 goals in nearly 350 appearances for Aston Villa speaking on Stadium Astro, he said: "I don’t think he’s the player that’s going to take Arsenal to that next step, Arteta will look at him and think he can do a job now.

"But when the summer comes he may be looking for someone with more legs, someone better.

“He’s good for now but I think that’s because Arteta can’t buy any players in January.

“For the players available, I think Torreira’s the best option he’s got.”

The 10th-placed Arsenal welcome Sheffield United on Saturday Premier League encounter at Emirate Stadium.
