Ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is been linked with a move to Real Madrid to replace under-fire Julen Lopetegui, according to report in AS.

Lopetegui has been given ultimatum after the Real Madrid hierarchy met to discuss his situation and for now, he is safe but he needs to get some positive results to convince the Bernabeu directors.

Real Madrid is considering their alternatives in the event Lopetegui is unable to meet up with the desired level of performance.

Conte and Real Madrid Castilla coach Santiago Solari are among the candidates being shortlisted for the Bernabeu hot seat.

Conte was considered as a replacement for Zinedine Zidane but his hard approach could unsettle the harmony Zidane built in the locker room.

The Italian is still seeking a pay-off from Chelsea after his axing at the end of last season.
