Former Chelsea star Michael Ballack has explained what The Blues need to do to retain the services of Eden Hazard at the Stamford Bridge.

Hazard has been tipped to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Real Madrid chiefs are willing to go an extra mile to sign the Belgian attacker.

It was suggested that Real Madrid is willing to offer Marco Asensio in the deal so as to make it appeal to the Stamford Bridge directors and in recent time the European Champions has traded with Chelsea in a bid to create a good relationship.

Real Madrid sold Alvaro Morata to Chelsea despite other suitors craving for his signature and they also let Matteo Kovacic join the London based club on loan so as to create a good relationship with the club’s hierarchy.

Hazard’s contract will expire in 18 months time and he is reluctant to extend his deal and the Bernabeu directors keep calling but Ballack is of the view that they can keep the Belgian in London.

"You have to pay him a lot of money!”

"But more importantly, you have to give him a vision.

"You have to tell him how important he is, ask him what he wants from the club and to give him a little bit more responsibility.

"You need to find out what he wants as well, ask him if he's happy. Of course, you want to win something and be as successful as possible as an individual player. It is normal to look around and think, 'With what club can I achieve that with?’’ Ballack told Goal.

Real Madrid is also monitoring Paris Saint-German forward Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as a possible replacement for Ronaldo who left for Juventus in the last summer transfer.
