Super Eagles confirm midfielder's absence in camp

Midfielder John Ogu will not play the international friendly matches against Corsica and Togo, can confirm.

The Super Eagles have confirmed fcnaija’s world exclusive that midfielder John Ogu is out of the training camp in France and will miss the international friendly matches against Corsica and Togo. broke the news of the midfielder missing the trip to France due to visa issues, and speaking on Wednesday, Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye said: “Yes, we have 16 players in camp now, Iheanacho, Mikel Agu, Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi joined us yesterday, we are not expecting anybody for now, the rest will join us in Paris.”

Ogu is one of the players called up for the training camp which will also involve friendly games against Corsica and Togo, ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa, but will now miss both games after he failed to secure an entry visa.

“John (Ogu) will not be travelling to France for the training camp because he failed to get a visa,” a top source had told only

“So as it stands, he will not play the Corsica and Togo friendlies because of the visa problem.”

With Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr expected to name a fresh list for the AFCON qualifier against South Africa, it remains unclear if the former Academica of Portugal midfielder will make the list.

Ogu recently won the Israeli league title for the second year running with Hapoel Be’er Sheva, and scored the goal that earned them the crown once again.
