Former England striker Emile Heskey talked about Kelechi Iheanacho's goal during Leicester City 1-1 scored draw against Aston Villa in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Frederic Guilbert put the away side in front in the first half but Super Eagles forward saved the Foxes’ blushes in the second half when he takes Jamie Vardy's fired pass in his path and smashes the ball into the back of the net with a rocket of a left-footed shot.

However, ex-Liverpool and Leicester City star Heskey has questioned why Brenda Rodgers did not bring on Iheanacho the field earlier into the encounter not when he replaced Ayoze Perez in the 69th minute but the Super Eagles forward found back of the net five minutes later to salvage the home side from losing.

Heskey told Sky Sports: "It was a great finish from Kelechi Iheanacho,"

"That's what he is capable of doing. I was surprised that they didn't bring him on at half-time to be honest.

"He just gives them something different and you could see that they were really struggling to take chances.

"His goal was really impressive, especially the first touch which opened it up and the finish was great. He is that box player.

"If you give him that chance or half chance in and around the box, he'll take it."

Heskey also added that he does feel for Iheanacho, who has struggled for game-time this season overall due to the fine form of fellow striker Jamie Vardy.

"He has been unlucky in that he is up against Jamie Vardy who is on fire, so he hasn't played that much," Heskey added.

"But when he has played and come on the field, he has had a massive impact."

Iheanacho has been directly involved in seven goals in his five competitive appearances against Aston Villa (five goals, two assist).
