Manchester City is yet to win a single piece of silverware under the management of Pep Guardiola and Rooney doesn’t believe that City can maintain their current level of performance throughout the campaign.

The Everton striker told talkSPORT: "I'm not sure they are quite there. They would have to keep going and do a lot more. I would go with the United team from 2008.

"There are so many great teams throughout the years in the Premier League. This City team need to win trophies and do it for a longer period to be in that bracket.

Manchester United boss reveals when Ibrahimovic will start

"Pep Guardiola deserves so much credit. The way he has got City playing in incredible. But I don't think they can go unbeaten all season.

"There are five or six teams that can all beat each other — and I'm sure in one of those City will get beaten."

Rooney has scored nine Premier League goals and has helped his boyhood club to 10th on the League table this season after 17 games.
