Ex-Super Eagles captain Kanu reacts on Odemwingie retirement

Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has reacted to Peter Osaze Odemwingie retirement from football.

The 37-year-old Uzbekistan-born attacker who last played for Indonesian side Madura United made his decision to hang up his boots public at the UEFA Equal Game Conference at Wembley on last week Wednesday.

Odemwingie scored 10 goals in 63 appearances for the Super Eagles including featuring in four African Cup of Nation tournaments (2004, 2006, 2008 and as captain in 2010) and two FIFA World Cup (2010, 2014) plus the winner against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Brazil that ultimately secured the West Africans' passage to the Last 16.

Kanu congratulates former Premier League forward on his retirement, which he posted on his Instagram page.

Odemwingie began his career with NPFL outfit Bendel Insurance before a spell La Louviere, Lille, Lokomotiv Moscow, West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff City, Stoke City, Bristol City and Rotherham United before leaving English football for Indonesian side Madura United in 2017.
