Ex-Super Eagles star Babayaro & Essien return to Chelsea

Former Super Eagles left-back Celestine Babayaro, Micheal Essien and Dennis Wise return to Chelsea for the club legends games against an Africa XI on Friday, September 14.

The 40-years Olympics Gold medalist was the most expensive teenager signed by dethroned Premier League Champions when he moves to Stamford Bridge in 1997 from Anderlecht for a fee of £2.25 million were he spent eight years in West London before joining Newcastle United 2005.

According to the club official website that Chelsea brought some of Africa's best young footballers to Cobham comprise from Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe for ahead of the friendly match against the Blues legend. 

The African youngsters, who trialed this summer before their selection for the trip to the United Kingdom with their training season was taken by Chelsea Foundation coaches.

However, the teenagers received advice from three Chelsea stars Victor Moses, N'Golo Kante, and David Luiz on Thursday before the big match against the former Blues players.

Former left-back featured in Chelsea 4-1 loss to Inter Milan legends in a charity game staged at Stamford Bridge in May 2018.

Babayaro made 135 appearances scoring five goals for Chelsea between 1997 and 2005, winning the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 1998 and the FA Cup in 2000.
