Atletico Madrid fullback Filipe Luis is of the opinion that his teammate Antonio Griezmann might sign a new contract with the club in a bid to remain in Spain.
Griezmann was on the verge of signing for Manchester United last summer but a ban on Atletico Madrid by FIFA prevented the deal from happening.
The French international signed a new deal but not increased in longevity , stating he could not leave the club in that circumstances
“He is a boy who speaks with clarity,” Luis told an interview with El Mundo this week.
“I have seen it before many times that players talk when they want more attention, maybe they feel they are not being valued properly or getting what they deserve.
“He is a quality player and will have had many offers from other top clubs and he will want to be on the biggest wages and value, due to how good he is.
“But that is fair enough, as he is doing a great job here and ultimately it will be decided by talks between clubs.
“He wanted to stay at Atletico and is happy; he can remain here much longer. Goals help anything and if he keeps performing nobody will remember words.”
Atletico Madrid will welcome Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday in their next La Liga clash.
