Leicester City was held to a 0-0 draw by English League one outfit Fleetwood Town in the 3rd round of Emirate FA Cup at Highbury Stadium on Saturday early kick-off to earn a replay at the King Power Stadium.

Kelechi Iheanacho and rest of Foxes team could not break stubborn league one side.

Setting the Scene

Ex-Fleetwood striker Jamie Vardy was left out of the Leicester squad by manager Claude Puel having failed to recover fully from a groin injury.

First Half

The first chance of the game comes to Islam Slimani gets a yard on his marker, but it comes off his thigh and flashes a yard or so wide.

Nearly a disastrous own goal by Dragovic! He plays the ball back intentionally to Jakupovic, and he has to tip it wide as it heads for the goal the corner given, rather than an indirect free-kick in the area as Referee Hooper gets that wrong.

But despite enjoying the majority of possession the Premier League visitors could not create a genuine goal-scoring opportunity in the first half with Demarai Gray's blast into the side-netting coming closest.

Second Half

Just before the hour Shinji Okazaki and Marc Albrighton were sent on in an attempt to change the game but Cian Bolger's header just over from a corner and Markus Schwabl's low drive were evidence Fleetwood's threat had not diminished.

Slimani volleyed Grey's cross into the side-netting, his last real action of the game as he was replaced by £25m former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho with 10 minutes remaining.

Ashley Hunter was denied a late winner when his deflected shot hit the post.

Fleetwood have never progressed beyond the third round of the competition.
