Forgotten defender Efe Ambrose is set to dump Hibernian for Premier League club Cardiff in the Janaury transfer window according to the report in Scotland.

The 30-year-old Nigeria international has rejected a new contract extension to remain at Easter Road beyond the expiry of his present contract in the summer and could now activate a release clause allowing him to leave for nothing from this month.

According to Scottish Sun claims that Ambrose, sold to Hibernian in 2017 after five years at Celtic and English Premier League side, Cardiff City are said to be interested in strengthening their defence with the 2013 Afcon winner currently in their shopping list but the center-back is also a target for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor in the summer.

Ambrose has been a mainstay in Neil Lennon's backline and he made 85 appearances scored six goals in the process but Hibernian finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership last season.
