Former Arsenal flop Mathieu Debuchy has emerged as the shock winner of the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for February; beating PSG superstar Neymar to the title.
The 32-year-old has been in impressive form for his new club Saint-Etienne and was duly awarded with
France's top award for the month, brushing aside fellow candidate Neymar, despite his 19 goals in 20 games this season, including two last month.
After his Arsenal career wound down to a miserable end, Debuchy made the switch back to France following the cancellation of his contract by the north London club in January.
Debuchy becomes the first defender to win the award for the last five years and is eyeing up a shock call to the France World Cup side as a result.
