Reports from Spain indicate that former Barcelona midfielder Fabio Rochemback has been arrested in Brazil for participating in cockfighting.

The 35-year-old was on the books at the Camp Nou from 2000 until 2005, before departing for Middlesbrough. According to Globoesporte, Rochemback was arrested in the city of Palmer's das Missoes and must respond to allegations of 'an environmental crime'.

During a police raid, 89 fighting roosters were seized in addition to a shotgun and more than 100,000 reales (around €26,000).

The Brazilian publication also report that there were many people present at the time of the raid with some betting on the fights, while others were merely spectating.

It isn't the first time that the ex-Sporting CP man has been involved in such activity and in 2011, police found several fighting cocks in a building owned by Rochemback in the city of Soledad.
