Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins believes Nathan Ake will be distraught with Antonio Conte’s decision to recall him from Bournemouth and says the Dutchman will only end up on the Blues' bench this season.
Ake who has made 12 appearances and scored three goals was recalled by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte
who has challenged him to break into his team following an impressive season for the Cherries.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Chelsea assistant Wilkins who spent two years at Stamford Bridge says Ake will be devastated at having to return to Stamford Bridge.
"He can fill a number of positions, but I think that’s what he’ll be: a number.
"I don’t think he’ll play, and I reckon Nathan is a little bit distraught this morning. He’s playing week in, week out for Bournemouth, and he’s doing a really, really good job.
"He’s coming back into the Chelsea fold now, and will he play? I don’t think he will personally. Conte doesn’t change the team a lot, unless there’s burnout. But they’ve got no European football.
"I’m not a great lover of Marcos Alonso. He’s doing okay, but will Nathan come in the side? I don’t think he will." said Wilkins
