Former Paris Saint-Germain Laurent Blanc has reportedly emerged as the new favourite to succeed Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

The 52-year-old ex-France international is now the new front-runner for the role after the Blues developed cold feet over Maurizio Sarri’s controversial past, it has been suggested that the Blues have started to have second thoughts overpaying the Italian's release clause.

According to The Sun, Chelsea hierarchy have become aware of Sarri’s homophobic row with new Italy boss Roberto Mancini, which resulted in a fine and a touchline ban.

The dethroned Premier League have taken a zero-tolerance on homophobic language in the past and as it stands, the incident will allegedly count against Sarri if Chelsea decides to part company with Conte in the near future.

With report stated Chelsea director, Marina Granovskaia held a meeting with Blanc who has been out of work for two years since leaving Ligue 1 new Champions.

Zinedine Zidane is a possible late contender for the top job at Stamford Bridge after leaving Real Madrid.
