Former Super Eagles star Babayaro return to Chelsea - FCNaija

Former Super Eagles defender Celestine Babayaro is set to return to Chelsea in May 2018, more than thirteen years after he bid farewell to the London club.

The 39-year-old who among the Blues triple-trophy-winning class of 1998 will be back playing on the pitch at Stamford Bridge in a charity match against Serie A outfit Inter Milan legend on Friday 18 May.

Babayaro spent eight years with the Premier League Champions his name was among the four-player mention in Chelsea official website Blues favorites such as Gianfranco Zola, ex-captain Dennis Wise, player-manager Gianluca Vialli and Nigerian rival in left-back position Graeme Le Saux but the Olympic gold medalist is in line to feature as he belongs to the class of 1998 that won the treble that calendar year.

Former Plateau United star misses the League Cup final against Middlesbrough in March 1998 and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup over Jonathan Akpoborie's VfB Stuttgart two months later due to injury he sustains during Premier League encounter to London neighbours Tottenham Hotspurs earlier in the season.

former Ebony player of the year made 197 appearances for the Blues and scored eight goals in all competitions before departing Stamford Bridge to Newcastle United in 2004.
