Four Nigerian on target in Europa League playoffs

Four Nigerian of Paul Onuachu, John Ogu, Anthony Nwakaeme and Philip Azango on target in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday night.

Onuachu scored a brace as FC Midtylland secured a 2-0 away win against The New Saints in the first leg of their Europa League, third qualifying round fixture.

The hosts dominated the early proceedings but the Danes got ahead after 24-year-old striker scored a header off a corner kick in the ninth minute into the game and he doubled his side's lead to see them secure away win in Wales.

Nigerian internationals John Ogu and Anthony Nwakeame were both on target for Hapoel Be’er Sheva as they fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Cyprus side Apoel Nicosia in the Europa 

Nuno Morais and Guilherme Augusto fired Apoel ahead in the encounter played at the Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium, Be’er Sheva Super Eagles midfielder Ogu reduced the deficit for the hosts three minutes before the break.

Trabzonspor target Nwakaeme, who was yellow carded in the 63rd minute netted the equaliser seven minutes later to end the tie in a scored draw.

Philip Azango was on target as AS Trencin humiliated Feyenoord 4-0 to boost their chances of reaching Europa League playoffs.

The 21-year-old former Nasarawa United and Plateau United winger continues his scoring form in his third consecutive game in the competition.

Antonio Mance put the Slovakian outfit in the two-goal lead in the sixth and 37th minutes before the Nigerian star added a third just before the interval.

Mance completed his hat-trick few minutes after the hour mark to seal the comprehensive victory over the Eredivisie outfit.
