Olympique Marseille striker Valerie Germain has heated up the atmosphere after his side's clash with bitter rivals Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night by claiming that Neymar is cocky and likes to make fun of others.

Neymar's style of play has divided opinions with many appreciating his flamboyant skills and others annoyed by his showboating. The Brazilian was taken off on a stretcher during their win over Marseille, nine days before their Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against Real Madrid.

Valerie Germain who was on parade on Sunday for 73 minutes has hit out at the former Barcelona man, insisting it is normal the Brazilain gets kicked because he makes fun of others.

"He's a spectacular player, but in my opinion, he exaggerates a bit. When I watch him on television he annoys me, he irritates me. You get the impression he isn't happy at Paris Saint-Germain.

"I don't like the attitude of laughing at others, it's normal that they kick him. It's like in life, if someone laughs at you, pow! In the game earlier in the season, at the Velodrome, he was sent off because he went crazy." Germain said of Neymar who before Sunday's clash was a doubt but passed a late fitness test to make the matchday squad.

The £200m striker whose ball was turned into Marseille's net by the visitors' defender Rolando appeared to twist his ankle while chasing Bouna Sarr, nine minutes from time.
