Platinum Stars, Goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela, was the hero for his side as they qualified for the next phase of the CAF Confederation Cup courtesy a 3-2 aggregate win over Vipers SC.

The South African side had lost 1-0 in the first leg and needed a two-goal margin to go through but while the build up for the match was centered on the strikers and midfielders to get the goals – it was Mzimela that stepped up with two goals.

The 31-year-old, conceded a goal and with the game 2-1, the home side won a penalty in the final moments of the game and he kept his nerves to score his second goal of the night and the fans went wild.

That made it three goals in his last two games following his goal against his former club AmaZulu in the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday and has registered four goals in all competitions this season so far.
