Gold Cup: Outstanding Nasamu helps MFM into final

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club shot-stopper, Nasamu Emmanuel, turned hero on Friday evening in Ijebu-Ode as his team booked a place in the final of the 4th edition of Gold Cup Pre-season Tournament after defeating Remo Stars 4-2 via penalties in the semi-finals on Friday.

Both teams played out a 1-1 draw after full time before the game was decided on penalties.

Stephen Odey scored his second goal of the tourney in three Gold Cup games to put the Olukoya Boys in front after nine minutes of exchange before Opeoluwa Olufemi nodded home a cross from the right side of pitch to put the Sky Blue Stars back into the game.

The entire 90 minutes of the nervy and entertaining encounter ended 1-1 and thereafter headed for a penalty shootout.

The Olukoya Boys will be up against Lobi Stars FC in the final at the Main Bowl of the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode on Sunday. Lobi Stars came from a goal down to beat Gold Cup reigning champions, Kano Pillars FC 3-1.
