Golden Eaglets of Nigeria win Group A in the ongoing CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after holding Uganda to a 1-1 score draw at the Chamazi Stadium, Mbagala on Saturday.

The two-time champions who finished top of the standings with seven points from three games also secured the ticket to the 2019 FIFA U -17 World Cup in Brazil as semi-finalists at the African tournament.

The cadet side coached by Manu Garba were guilty of missing gilt-edged chances but battled hard to end the nervous first half on a scoreless note.

Uganda, however, broke the deadlock through John Kokas in the 69th minute but their lead lasted only five minutes as Ibraheem Jabaar scored with a close-range effort.

The Golden Eaglets held on after the equalising goal to ensure their passage into the next round and they will face the second place team in Group B in the semi-final on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

Angola finished second in the Group A behind Nigeria on six points after edging out hosts Uganda 4-2 in their last match played on Saturday.
