Pep Guardiola has dedicated City’s masterclass win over Chelsea to two of his injured stars.

Guardiola lost Benjamin Mendy and Sergio Aguero this week and he was keen to highlight both players are very much in the thoughts of their team-mates and staff.

Chelsea 0-1 Manchester City: De Bruyne keeps Cityzens on top

“I want to dedicate this game for Benjamin and to Sergio - every guy is going to fight to keep going.

“We are so sad for Benjamin; he’s a guy who gives us a different spirit in the locker room. Sergio as well, but hopefully he’ll be back soon.

“We have two options - complain about players not available, or play with the players we have, because we still have exceptional players.

“We came here to win. This is my first time as a manager I won in this stadium

“We are so happy, but the most important thing is to win the game, the way we played in the second half was really good.

“We came here last year and there are no words to describe what they are and what they did. In the first half, we didn't find the best positions, but second half was better.

“Chelsea are dangerous when they counter, but we keep the ball as much as possible. When we win, we are so happy for that. It’s just September, and there's a long way to go.”

Guardiola also heaped praise on Kevin De Bruyne – who scored a stunning goal to win the game – and Fabian Delph, who was excellent again at left-back.
