Pep Guardiola has explained why he joined Manchester City, according to the report.

The former Barcelona manager made it clear that winning the Champions League for Manchester City is not his major reason for joining the Etihad Outfit.

The 48-year-old has explained that he has been on focused on making the team play attractive football; something they have achieved under his guidance.

"I did not come here to win the Champions League, but I came here to make the team play the way they have played in the last twenty months," he told the press conference.

"I love challenges and [winning the Champions League] is my desire, but in football, you lose more than you win and I try to give the best of myself."

Following a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last week, City will aim to overturn the one-goal deficit at home on Wednesday.

"[The home game] is not going to be similar, as we have to score goals and the reason why we tried to control the game that day was because of the matches that we had ahead of us at that moment," he added.

"[It was also] because of how I saw the team against Brighton and how the players were when they came back after the injuries.

"However, now we play at home and we have to create an atmosphere for our fans to support us."

Manchester City will entertain fellow Premier League rival in the Champions League at the Etihad for the second leg of the quarter-final bout on Wednesday evening.
