Hazard, Messi and Modric were considered for the award for their last season's performance, the Croatian midfielder has already won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award and the European best player award.
The Chelsea attacker felt that Kylian was a better performer than the La Liga pair after the PSG forward championed France to World Cup victory in Russia.
“Even though I had a good year, I have to keep my feet on the ground: I don’t deserve the Ballon d’Or,” he told RTBF.
“There have been players who have been better than me. I’d say Modric, but between August and October, he wasn’t as good as he was before that.
“Taking that into account, I choose Kylian Mbappe.”
Hazard has been in a great form for Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri, though the speculation linking him away from Stamford Bridge still remains a great threat to Chelsea directors.
