Twitter goes crazy as France beat Belgium to seal final tie

Thierry Henry congratulated the France squad in a night of mixed emotions for him as his country of birth beat Belgium – where he currently works as assistant coach – 1-0 to progress to the World Cup final.

Henry watched from the Belgium bench as a Samuel Umtiti header in the second half earned Les Bleus a slim win and end the Red Devils’ hopes of reaching the World Cup final and at the final whistle, there were congratulations and commiserations for and from Henry as he hugged and spoke with players on both sides.

Before the match, Henry was being equally social, chatting with French players and embracing the opposition manager, Didier Deschamps.

Henry was in the France squad that won the World Cup on home soil in 1998.
