Huge blow for Chelsea coach Frank Lampard as N'golo Kante pulled out of the France squad with a muscle injury.

The 28-year-old had been included in Les Blues starting lineup for the Euro 2020 qualifier 1-0 victory Iceland on Friday but former Leicester City midfielder was forced to withdraw after reportedly pulling up with a hamstring problem in the warm-up and was replaced by Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko.

Kante suffered a myriad of injuries since the latter stages of last season and missed several games due to a knee problem sustained in the 4-0 defeat at Manchester United as the Europa League Champions already have several players out injured, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Antonio Rudiger and Emerson Palmieri.

The Mali descent has only recently turned to full fitness and has been influential for the Blues since his return, scoring against both Liverpool and Southampton in recent weeks but his latest setback could see the tireless midfielder miss Chelsea's next game against Newcastle United on October 19, with Mateo Kovacic poised to deputise if he fails to recover.
