Ighalo reacts after scoring debut goal in 2019 AFCON

Odion Ighalo has reacted after scoring debut goal in Total African Cup of Nations against  Swallows of Burundi last Saturday in Group B clash opener at the Alexandria Stadium.

The 30-year-old Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker came off the bench in the 73rd minute to replace Paul Onuachu before scoring the winner three minutes later after receiving a delightful back-heel pass from former Chelsea defender Ola Aina as ex-Julius Berger and Watford star waste no time to find back of the net.

Ighalo also stated that the hard-earned win will boost the morale for Gernot Rohr side as Super Eagles ready to win their fourth African Cup of Nations title.

Nigeria international told reporters saying: "I really feel great to have come on and scored because as a player when you are called upon to come in you have to do your best. It wasn’t easy for us, but then again you don’t expect easy matches,” 

"I think we have set the tone for ourselves moving forward and our confidence has improved. We won it in 2013 and obviously being here we want to win it again.

Three-time African Champions top Group B with three points, while Guinea and Madagascar have a point each. Burundi are rooted to the bottom of the log with no point.

The Super Eagles will take on the Syli National of in their next game on Wednesday at the Alexandria Stadium.
