Ighalo reunite with former Watford coach in new club

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has reunited with Obafemi Marins former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores at Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shanghai Shenhua.

The 29-year-old star penned a three contract with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2021 season after ending his association with Changchun Yatai, who were relegated to lower league.

Ighalo bagged 36 goals in 55 games for the Changchun Yatai in two seasons joins Flores side who had been in the market for a proven goalscorer after Demba Ba terminated his contract by mutual consent a month ago.

Former Julius Beger ace Ighalo could make his debut for on the 1st of March, against Shanghai SIPG, in the opening day fixture of the 2019 Chinese Super League Season.

Ighalo, who has played in Norway, Italy, Spain as well as Watford, was a target for many teams in China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The Lagos-born has 10 goals in 25 appearances for the Super Eagles and his six goals helped Nigeria seal a return to the Africa Cup of Nations.
