Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has sent a warning to the other 23 teams coming to 2019 Afcon in Egypt after scoring his fifth goal of the season for Shanghai Shenhua in Friday’s 2-1 away defeat to Guangzhou R&F in a Chinese Super League clash at Yuexiushan Stadium.

After a goalless first half in the encounter, Israel midfielder Eran Zahavi shot Guangzhou R&F into the lead after 65 minutes before 29-year-old former Watford goal poacher Ighalo restored parity for the visiting team in the 90th minute of the match.

However, own goal from Zhu Jianrong in additional time handed Shanghai Shenhua a third league defeat of the season after previously lost to Shanghai SIPG and Hebei China Fortune in their opening two league games.

The strike took Ighalo’s tally to five in five games this season as Nigeria international is currently the joint top scorer in the Chinese Super League along with Zahavi with five goals each.

Following the defeat, Shanghai Shenhua are now eight in the CSL table with six points from five games welcoming Wuhan Zall in their next league game on Sunday 21st April 2019.
