Iheanacho reacts as Chelsea 'spoil' home debut

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho was denied a memorable home debut by Chelsea over the weekend

Strikes from Álvaro Morata and N'Golo Kanté rendered Jamie Vardy’s penalty a mere consolation but Iheanacho, who came on in the 78th minute, is confident that positive results will follow.

“It was a disappointing result but we’ll forget about it and move on,” the Nigerian striker told LCFC TV at full-time. “We need to work more in training so we get the results we need.

“If we work more in training and keep going, we will get points in the league. I’m pleased to make my home debut today so I’m happy and I hope I can help the team reach the level they want, score goals and get the points we need in the league.

“[Chelsea] are very good in central defence and have very good players. We did very well up front and defending-wise but we move on.”

Iheanacho, 20, has been limited to short cameos since joining the Club this summer but was delighted to get an opportunity to show the Blue Army what he is capable of on Saturday afternoon.
