Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has revealed that playing against Barcelona and scoring in the premier league were special moments for him in 2016.
The 20-year-old broke into the Gunners’ first team in 2016 and has since held his own and on New Year’s Day he capped a fine performance with his first career headed goal as Arsene Wenger’s men made light work of Crystal Palace at the Emirates with a 2-0 win. However, Nigerian youngster still holds in high value his debut in the UEFA Champions League against Barcelona and scoring his first premier league goal against Everton at Goodison Park in a 2-0 victory.
Speaking to the Arsenal’s official website, Iwobi said: “Playing against Barcelona and scoring Premier League goals - there were some special moments in 2016. But it’s all in the past now. I’m concentrating on the future and being the best that I can.
“We’ll just have to focus on our next game, take it as it comes. Hopefully we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”
The Gunners play Bournemouth on Tuesday and Iwobi is confident that he and teammates will be ready for battle.
“We should be [ready to go again in 24 hours]. We need to recover well and train again and prepare for Bournemouth.”
