Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus has apologised after his wrong conduct in the Copa America final against Peru.

The Manchester City attacker was giving his matching order following a needless foul on Carlos Zambrano with just 20 minutes left to play for, the official did not hesitate to show Jesus the second yellow card and he was sent off.

Jesus was having a good game before the incident having assisted the first goal and scored the second goal but he eventually went from hero to zero and down to the tunnel where he shed tears of regret, at that point Brazil had a slim lead of 2-1 over their opponent.

He booted a water bottle in anger, then punched the side of the dugout in anger and attempted to push the VAR monitor with both hands, with match officials forced to prevent it from falling to the floor.

Speaking after the game, he said: "I want to apologise.

"I could have avoided it and I also need to grow up a lot."
