JUST IN: Bayern Munich confirm new signing

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Canadian teenager Alphonso Davies from the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Bavarian is currently in the United States as part of a pre-season tour to prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga season.

The 17-year-old rising Canadian star, who will remain with the MLS club through the remainder of the season. with the absent a European passport, Davies isn't eligible to join German Champions until he turns 18, which is on Nov. 2.

According to Goal claiming that Bayern Munich and Vancouver Whitecaps agree on a fee of $13 million (£10m/€11m), with escalator clauses that could see the fee rise to $19 million.

Davies has become the most expensive outgoing transfer in league history, about doubling the $10 million Jozy Altidore fetched from Villarreal 10 years ago.

The Ghana-born, Edmonton-raised Davies has three goals and eight assists this season for Vancouver.
