JUST IN: Brazilian star Marcelo out of Madrid derby

Brazilian star Marcelo has been ruled out of the upcoming Madrid derby against city rivals Atletico on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu after a scan confirmed a suspected calf injury according to the club official website.

The 30-year-old left back was substituted during the club's 3-0 loss in midweek at Sevilla underwent tests to reveal the extent of the damage suffered the La Liga encounter at Ramon Sánchez Pizjuan Stadium

Marcelo who was named in the FIFPro World XI for the fifth time in his career on Monday, is likely to be replaced in the lineup by utility Spanish international Nacho now that he is unavailable.

Real Madrid will be without Marcelo in their Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow on next Tuesday, as well La Liga clash Alaves on October 6.

Dani Carvajal and Isco would also miss Madrid derby but summer signing Alvaro Odriozola, who made his Los Bloncos debut in the Espanyol game, could return to the team.
