Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has equalled Real Madrid Raul's Champions League goals record with brilliant free-kick against PSV at Nou Camp on Tuesday evening.

The 31-year-old forward scored his first goal in this season European competition with a sublime free kick in the 32 minutes of the encounter and he became the only the second player in history to score in 14 consecutive Champions League seasons.

Messi now matches Raul record but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will be hopping to surpass Spaniard in 2019-20 season and Barcelona skipper has now eight direct free-kick in 2018, his best ever haul in a calendar year.

The Argentine has notched 103 goals in the competition in total, although he still lags 17 behind his long-time adversary Cristiano Ronaldo in the all-time pecking order.

Messi already boasts four Champions League triumphs on his enviable CV, but will be hoping to secure a fifth medal this season and draw level with eternal rival Ronaldo.
