Nigerian duo of Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja's Ligue 1 club Bordeaux reportedly keen on Europa League top scorer Olivier Giroud in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 32-year-old France international is struggling for regular minutes with Chelsea and has done throughout his time at Stamford Bridge but former Arsenal star is out of contract at the end of the campaign and has not been offered a new deal by the Blues management.

However, Giroud has been brilliant for the West London giant in the Europa League where his 10 goals and three assists have played a huge part in helping Maurizio Sarri side ahead of Chelsea’s semi-final, second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

According to Bordeaux chief scout, Hugo Varela told French newspaper L’Equipe: "People who know him have told us a lot of good things about him as a player, of course, but also as a person.

"He has the attributes we are looking for, but he is not the only one. No matter who comes, we know that negotiations will be difficult.” Giroud is not the only player expected to leave Chelsea this summer, with Eden Hazard a key transfer target for Real Madrid.

Giroud has registered 17 goals and become a World Cup winner since swapping red for blue in English football but has not figured as prominently as he had hoped and exit talk continues to swirl around him as a result, with Sarri still favouring other options and keen to wrap up a permanent deal for loan star Gonzalo Higuain this summer.
