Bologna full-back Cheick Keita, on loan from Birmingham City, has been charged with hit-and-run after a 12-year-old girl was struck.

The 21-year-old defender's Mercedes collided with a young girl after training on Thursday afternoon.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Keita car hit a young girl of Moldovan origin as he left training allegedly then carried on and then proceeded to hit a van before returning to the scene of the incident around 15 minutes later.

Municipal Police report that player gave several different versions of events, first claiming he was driving, then that he was on board as a passenger and finally that he had simply loaned the car to friends.

Keita start was part of Monaco's academy before moving to Serie B side Virtus Entella, where he made his professional debut in 2015.

After two seasons, he was brought to Birmingham by former boss Gianfranco Zola where he made 11 appearances with Championship side before being loaned out to Serie A side Bologna in the summer, where he has been included in just one matchday squad without playing.

Keita has never been capped by Mali but has played for their U20s side.
