Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has attempted to downplay comparisons between Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

The Egypt international who Liverpool just £34million at the start of the season has been a revelation at Anfield in his debut campaign, scoring 30 goals in just 36 games.

He has proved to be one of the steals of the summer in the same transfer window that saw Neymar move to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee worth £198m.

And a few have even suggested, this season at least, the 25-year-old is now on a par with Barcelona superstar Messi, having found the net more times than Messi this year, but Klopp has tried to deflect people from making a comparison.

"Is Mo the best in the business? All over the world? Lionel Messi is left-footed isn't he? Maybe we should not forget him.

"Best in the world, I’m not too interested in these categories but Mo has a good one. I’m more surprised that he had a header (in his Premier League total) as well.

"He has a right foot that he scored with too probably. I don’t care which part of the body he uses. That’s for him like the other boys. It’s a very good left foot for sure." said Klopp as quoted in The Express

Salah’s impressive start at Liverpool has been felt all over the world with many now considering him as one of the world’s best wide players.

The former Chelsea man who has earned rave reviews will be aiming to add to his goal tally on Saturday when Liverpool welcome West Ham to Merseyside.
