Klopp insists Liverpool will spend big this summer

Jurgen Klopp has hinted Liverpool is planning to spend big this summer by declaring you won't get a badge for a positive transfer balance.

The club is supported by Fenway Sports Group financially in the summer transfer window.

Klopp side has been doing fantastically well in the summer transfer windows as Virgil van Dijk has indicated he wants a move to Anfield. While talks with Roma and midfielder Mohammed Salah and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita are on the team’s radar as he wants to avoid the costly mistake he made for not signing any player in the January transfer market.

And Klopp said: “It's easy to say what the people measure me against – titles and trophies some day and, of course, against subjective successes like Champions League participation.

That comment was in reference to Liverpool's transfer business last summer when, despite bringing in £67m worth of talent including Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, the Reds made a profit when taking into account sales, the most lucrative of which saw Christian Benteke join Crystal Palace for £32m.

Liverpool was nevertheless in contention on three fronts until a dismal January in which, hampered by injuries and a small squad, they fell behind in the race for the Premier League title and were dumped out of both the FA Cup and League Cup.

Klopp also said to German magazine Kicker, added: “We did not have a squad able to avert this (poor run) at that time.We could have certainly used a new player, for instance, an attacking winger.

“And we tried in the winter, but the right one was either not available for us or just not there.”

Liverpool is also in the market for a new left-back to provide competition for James Milner.
