Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has broken the silence after kung-fu kicking Nicolas Tagliafico in the head during the UEFA Champions League clash with Ajax on Wednesday night.

The 29-year-old Germany international was dismissed for his clumsy assault on Argentina left-back with 15 minutes to play in Bayern Munich’s 3-3 thriller against Ajax at Johan Cruijff Arena after both sides had already booked their places in the Champions League last-16.

Muller attempted to beat Tagliafico to Noussair Mazraoui’s cross-field ball but unintentionally made contact with the full-back’s head and the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner tried his best to comfort the home side defender as he lay on the turf before being shown a red card and has now issued an apology to the Argentinian.

Bayern Munich star tweeted he said: "I would like to apologise to Nico Tagliafico for yesterday’s incident.

‘It was unintentional. Get well soon.’

Ajax finished up second in the group with 12 points to Bayern’s 14 as but both progress to the last-16 on the back of a thrilling encounter.
