Spanish League president Javier Tebas aims to keep La Liga stars from the reach of Paris Saint-Germain having loosed Neymar to the Parisian club this summer. The Spanish La Liga has been able to attract football stars from other leagues from the past decades which make the leagues relevant over time considering the galaxy of stars the league has over the past twenty years. The Spanish team’s stars have been able to dominate European football thanks to the exploits of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia. Each has gotten at least two European trophies except Valencia who has one in the last seventeen years.RELATED: La Liga ask UEFA to investigate two clubs over FFP breachTebas is of the opinion that if the stars depart from the Spanish League, the league might experience a significant drop in terms of television viewers around the world and it might even affect the branding of the league as a whole.
Tebas in one of his interview he said: “Those players Ronaldo and Messi have even bigger release clauses, but if my friend Nasser ( PSG President) fancies it he will just do this open the gas valve and sign them. This is the problem they are saying market value no, it is the market value of oil. It is not the football market value”.He aims to protect the stars from the clutches of other clubs and prevents suitors from making audacious bids in order to price away these stars from La Liga clubs.
